Served as part of a four person team to coordinate the 2010 Groundhog Job Shadow Day and Mayor Daley’s Youth Ready Chicago by matching 90 Chicago Public School youth with disabilities with 17 employers in desired career fields, taking into consideration their interests and physical capabilities.

Drafted a $45,000 budget and program proposal for the Youth Green Jobs Pilot Program to support Chicago Public School youth with disabilities.

Created a video presentation and marketing materials for the Youth Ready Chicago Kick-Off Breakfast attended by 200 youth with disabilities, parents, and school and community officials.

DeKalb High School Secondary Transitional Experience Program, DeKalb, Illinois

10/2009-12/2009

  • Collaborated as part of a two person team to implement National Job Shadow Day by matching DeKalb High School youth with disabilities with employers in desired career fields.

  • Arranged speakers from diverse occupations to talk with students about careers.

  • Developed a community awareness brochure about the Secondary Transitional Experience Program distributed to community employers to foster the hiring of students with disabilities.
